two's
PAL-A-ROOS recognizes that
children between the ages of 24 and 36 months have a very broad developmental age span.
Therefore, children of this age are separated into two classrooms.
The Younger Twos classroom (approximately 24-30 months of age) maintains the same ratio as the one year old children (6-1 ratio). The smaller group size allows for more individual attention and an easier transition to the preschool program. Through appropriate games and activities, children are introduced to abstract concepts such as colors, shapes and symbols (letters and numbers). A preschool activity plan is used in this classroom, but it is more general in scope to be appropriate for a younger two-year-old child. Toilet training can begin in this class if children show signs of readiness.
The older Twos classroom is where true preschool
activities begin. Continuing the program offered in the Young Twos class, the
children are given more challenging activities as their skills and attention span
increase. All children are introduced to toilet training in preparation for their
advancement to the next class. The children are introduced to computers and begin
integrated computer instruction.
The Addison-Wesley Active Learning Series curriculum is used in these classrooms
